In the Christmas action movie Red One, Chris Evans and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson feature. Johnson claims that the film will be, among other things, Miracle on 34th Street crossed with Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. But, of course, action movies and Christmas go together, like milk and cookies, with blockbusters like Die Hard and more current blockbusters like Violent Night.
Evans and Johnson have worked on commercially lucrative international franchises and are raising the bar with Red One. And it’s also fortunate that action-adventure Christmas movies are making a solid comeback this year. Violent Santa, starring David Harbour, has already won over fans worldwide. Hiram Garcia, the president at Seven Bucks Productions and Johnson’s co-producer, had the original concept for the film.
Who Are the Red One Cast and Crew?
Red One’s cast is filled with incredible talent. But, of course, Dwayne Johnson as Callum Drift and Chris Evans as Jack O’Malley are the movie’s stars. While it first appears these two formidable foes will be enemies, Drift and O’Malley team together in the film.
Johnson will work once more for the Christmas movie with Jake Kasdan, who directed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Chris Morgan, who wrote Hobbs & Shaw. Johnson certainly doesn’t look like an elf, but his revelation raises the possibility that there is more to his character’s past than first appears.
Johnson has specifically highlighted the Krampus, a particularly horrifying figure from European Christmas legend, despite the absence of additional details surrounding Red One’s plot. It makes perfect sense for the actor’s character, who we don’t yet know whether they favour the good or the bad, to be on the other side.
Amazon Studios is supporting Red One after winning the rights to the film in a competitive bidding process. When asked about Amazon acquiring the rights to Red One, producer Hiram Garcia responded as follows:
“We showed the movie throughout town, and luckily all of our studio partners entered the competition. I was pretty flattered to see how everybody was bidding on it. Still, in the end, Amazon stepped up significantly and truly grasped our goals and the narrative we were attempting to communicate.
J.K. Simmons, dressed as a torn Santa Claus, will appear with The Rock and Evans. Simmons previously voiced the holiday tale in the critically acclaimed animated film Klaus on Netflix.
You won’t want to meddle with this Santa since we’ve seen behind-the-scenes pictures of Simmons practicing with Johnson. On his Instagram, Johnson gave us a sneak peek at Simmons’ interpretation of Santa Claus.
The remaining cast members are Lucy Liu, Nick Kroll, Wesley Kimmel (The Book of Boba Fett), Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones), and Kiernan Shipka. Bonnie Hunt will play Mrs Claus.
What’s the Story Behind Red One?
Red One’s story is currently under wraps, although The Rock offered some essential details on his Instagram page. Think of Jumanji crossed with Miracle on 34th Street, Hobbs & Shaw, Harry Potter, and sprinkled with my all-time favourite Christmas film, It’s A Wonderful Life, Johnson said while describing the movie. Let that sink in.
The upcoming Christmas film Red One, starring actor Chris Evans, has debuted a fresh image. Since the start of the production in November, the cast has provided brief behind-the-scenes peeks to tease fans with what’s to come or reveal the newest cast members, including JK Simmons as Santa.
The new image in black and white shows Evans and Johnson heading towards what appears to be a cemetery. The actor wrote “Night shot” and a very appropriate Christmas tree emoji as the image’s description without providing further insight. The two protagonists are walking resolutely approach the gates as it is snowing in the background, giving the impression that an action scene is about to begin.
On Which Day Will Red One Be Released?
Without a stated release date, Red One is still in production as of October 2022. When the film is finished, Prime Video subscribers can watch it for free. Amazon Studios are making it. Regarding a release date, we expect it’ll be streamable by December 2023. After that, they will have a full year to finish the movie, the score, and any necessary retakes in time for Christmas.
