Early Life
Abigail Edna Disney was born on January 24, 1960, to parents Patricia Ann and Roy E. Disney. She has three other siblings, Timothy Disney, Roy Patrick Disney, and Susan Disney Lord. She grew up in North Hollywood, California, and finished her studies at Buckley School, Stanford University, and Columbia University for her Ph.D. While she was finishing her Ph.D., she was an English and American Literature teacher at Iona College and wrote an essay about sentimentalizing violence in American life.

In 1988, Abigail Disney married Pierre Norman Hauser. They have four children together, Charlotte, Olivia, Henry, and Eamon.
Career on Filmmaking
Dinsey produced the documentary film, Pray the Devil Back to Hell, which is focused on the life work of Leymah Gbowee, a Liberian activist, by sharing how critical the roles of women are in achieving peace in Liberia. The film was awarded as Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival last 2008. It was screened in 60 countries across the globe.
Along with Gini Reticker, Disney founded Fork Films, a production company in New York, in 2007. She works as the CEO and president, while Reticker works as the chief creative officer. In 2009, Fork Films partnered with Film Sprout to create a Global Peace Tour for Pray the Devil Back to Hell. The tour resulted in 235 cities in the US and 31 foreign countries to come together. The film focuses on the sacrifice and bravery of Leymah Gbowee, who was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize back in 2011.
Disney was the executive producer of The Trials of Spring in 2015, which covers a long documentary and six short movies.
