Early Life
Adam Douglas Driver was born on November 19, 1983, in San Diego, CA, to parents Joe Douglas Driver and Nancy Wright. He has Scottish, Irish, German, Dutch, and English ancestry. When he was only seven, he moved to his mother’s hometown, Mishawaka Indiana, together with his mother and older sister. In 2001, he graduated from Mishawaka High School. Since his stepfather, Rodney G. Wright, was a minister at a baptist church, Driver was raised as a baptist and even sang in the church’s choir.
After the 9/11 attacks, Driver joined the United States Marine Corps. He served for almost three years before he suffered from a fractured sternum while he was mountain biking.
He attended the University of Indianapolis and stayed there for a year. He went to audition for Juilliard and was accepted. According to him, his classmates saw him as someone volatile and intimidating, which made it hard for him to fit in. He belonged to the Drama’s Division Group, where he met Joanne Tucker, who will then become his wife. He graduated in 2009 with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Early Years
After Adam graduated from Juilliard, he pursued his acting career in New York City, participating both in Broadway and non-Broadway projects. Like other actors who started from the bottom, he also worked as a busboy and waiter to support himself. He made his first appearance on-screen in the finale of the 2009 series, Unusuals. In 2011, he made his debut in films by starring J. Edgar, a biographical drama by Clint Eastwood.
In 2012, he was included in the main casts of Girls, a comedy-drama series of HBO. Because of his outstanding performance in this series, he received various nominations. In that same year, he played minor roles in critically-acclaimed films, Frances Ha and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. Furthermore, he made appearances in Gayby and Not Waving But Drowning.
