In 2002 Bowie’s father Ric Pipino started his first salon ‘Pipino’ at the Shore Club in Miami. In the following years, he opened its many branches across the United States. By the time he opened his saloon in downtown Manhattan in 2009, he had become one of the world’s most popular and highest-paid hair stylists.

The famous fashion designers he collaborated with include Nicole Miller, Rosa Cha, Ralph Lauren, and Donna Karan. He also collaborated with prominent fashion photographers like Richard Avedon, Sante D’Orazio, Annie Leibovitz,  Patrick Demarchelier, and Bruce Weber. Ric’s works have been published in Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Playboy and GQ, Vogue, Elle, and other top magazines.

In May 2015 he partnered with Gil Haziza to start Hairstream, a premium mobile salon. In 2016  Ric started Hairspace, a new hair salon, at Gurney’s Montauk, which was a massive hit. He also appeared in ‘Zoolander’, a 2001 comedy film, and ‘E! True Hollywood Story, a documentary based on his ex-wife’s life, Heidi Klum.
