Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 24, 1977, to Floyd Mayweather Sr, a boxer by profession, Floyd Mayweather dealt with some severe family issues as a child. His mother was a drug addict and his father stayed out of the house most of the time. He did spend some time with Floyd but soon had to go to Jail. When his father was in Jail, Floyd lived with his grandmother and had also joined a boxing gym, to work on his skills. He even left his high school to devote as much time to boxing, as he could.

He fought his very first professional match in 1996 against Roberto Apodaca. Before that, he had already bagged the winner trophy in the national Golden Gloves championships in 1993, 1994, and 1996. Floyd did not stop here. He went on to win 6 consecutive championships in five categories namely, Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Junior Welterweight, Welterweight twice, and Super Welterweight.

In 2019, Floyd Mayweather fought the most powerful enemy (opponent) of his life, Manny Pacquiao. Their boxing match is believed to be the most sought after and the most-watched match in the history of boxing. The match generated overall revenue of $180 million and Floyd was given a share of $25 million and later added $20-25 million. In 2010, he won a match against Sugar” Shane Mosley. In 2011, he won a match against Victor Ortiz and Miguel Cotto 2012.

 In 2013, he defeated Robert Guerrero, and in the same year, he also fought a match against Saul Alvarez. Finally, in 2015, Floyd and Pacquiao fought a final match which grabbed a lot of viewers and generated a lot of revenue. Controversies:

In 2017, the IRS demanded an amount as large as $22.2 million from Floyd Mayweather as the tax he supplied to pay for his income in 2015. On being asked for the handsome amount of $22,238,255, Floyd asserted that he did not have enough cash to pay the debt but his legal team released a statement assuring the IRS that their debt shall be paid with full interest. The team affirmed, “Although the taxpayer has substantial assets, those assets are restricted and primarily illiquid. The taxpayer has a significant liquidity event scheduled in about 60 days from which he intends to pay the balance of the 2015 tax liability due and outstanding.”
