The German murder mystery drama named Perfume is based on a novel of the same name that was written by Patrick Süskind. Before the series came into existence, a movie was already made on it, named “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” and was released in 2006. The series was originally made in German but after Netflix bought its streaming rights, they dubbed it into several languages to cater to the audience across the globe. Plot:
Perfume is a German TV series that was first premiered in 2018 and is based on the novel: Perfume by Patrick Süskind and a movie that was released in 2006 named Perfume: The Story of a Murderer that was directed by Tom Tykwer.
The series saw its first release on the Netflix OTT platform on December 21, 2018. Being praised with some honorable reviews and articles, the story of the series is about a dead body of a woman that was found on the Lower Rhine whose red hair, armpit, and pubic hair were removed.
The case is investigated by Nadja Simon and Matthias Köhler and a prosecutor who goes by the name Grünberg who is currently having an affair with Nadja. The story continues as they investigate a group of five former boarding school students who know the victim from her early school days and were a part of an experiment that included human scents.
The story becomes more breathtaking and engaging when another corpse of a boy who was missing for a lot of time is found and it also has the same mutilations as the woman. Another corpse of a prostitute is found disfigured in the same way.
Meanwhile, Nadja comes to know that she is pregnant with Grünberg’s child and when she tells him about it he proposes the idea of abortion and after the conflict of interests becomes a lot bigger than it was supposed to be, Grünberg ends the relationship.
