Early Life
Ron Howard was born on March 1, 1954, in Duncan, Oklahoma. He is the eldest son of Rance Howard, an actor, director, and writer, and Jean Speegle Howard, an actress. The original surname of his father is Beckenholdt but took the stage name Howard when he became an actor. In 1958, Ron’s family moved to Hollywood. After a year, he gained a brother named Clint Howard.
The Howard Family lived in the Desilu Studios, where the filming of The Andy Griffith Show took place later. They resided in Hollywood for around three years before moving to Burbank.
While he was young, Ron was tutored in Desilu Studios and continued his studies at the Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary. During his high school, he attended the David Star Jordan Junior High but graduated at the John Burroughs High School. In 1959, Roy debuted his acting career in the film, The Journey. Later on, he appeared in television series, including The DuPont Show With June Allyson, The Twilight Zone, Dennis the Menace, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, Counter Gun, and The Cheyenne Show.
In 1960, he was included in the main cast of The Andy Griffith Show and was part of the sitcom for all its eight seasons.
