Early life:
Born on August 25, 1930, in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Scotland, Sean Connery AKA Thomas Sean Connery, was the first child of Joseph Connery and Euphemia Connery. His father was a truck driver and also worked at a factory and his mother was a laundress by profession. His parents called him “Tommy” with love. They had their second child, “Neil”, when Sean was 8 years old.
He was enrolled at the Tollcross Elementary School. At school, he performed exceptionally well in mathematics and also got involved in several sports like tag and soccer. He left his school at the age of 13 and started working at a dairy to support his family. At the age of 16 years, he joined the navy but was released from his services at the age of 19, due to his stomach ulcers.
After dropping the navy job, he tried his hands at certain other jobs like laying bricks, shoveling coal, etc. He even posed for the artists at the Edinburgh Art School. He developed an interest in weight lifting and joined Dunedin Weightlifting Club. He contested the Mr. Universe contest, in 1953 and bagged the third position in the tall men’s category. After his divorce from his first wife, Connery got married to Micheline Roquebrune, who was a painter by profession. The two tied a knot in 1975. Everything was going well between the two until 1989 when Sean started seeing Lynsey de Paul, who was a pop star. However, Sean and Micheline maintained their marriage till his last breath.
