Born on August 21, 1981, in Long Beach, California, Tarek El Moussa is a half Middle-Eastern with Arab and European lineage. Tarek’s father was raised in Lebanon (who later on moved to Egypt) while his mom is from Belgium. As a teen, his father traveled to Europe and married his mom.
While in Orange County, California, Tarek became a famous house flipper and real estate broker. His expertise is looking for auctioned homes and properties and selling them after improvement. Tarek El Moussa was diagnosed with cancer in 2013 after Ryan Reade, a nurse and die-hard fan of Tarek’s show, wrote to the production company about noticing a lump on Tarek’s neck. It turned out that Tarek had thyroid cancer and testicular cancer.
Tarek was thankful to Ryan because it saved him from further complications. The early diagnosis prompted him to seek medical treatment the soonest. Tarek made a statement on HGTV about how grateful he was for Ryan’s keen observation.
To everybody’s surprise, Tarek and Christina split up in May 2016. The two separated after an argument that led to the calling of the police when Tarek was reported to be becoming suicidal after he left home. Tarek made a statement that he just went out for a walk while bringing a gun for self-defense against wild animals.
The two decided to file for divorce in 2017 and it was finalized in January 2018. The fate of The El Moussa Group, their co-owned real estate agency, and their show almost broke apart. However, the two still managed to film succeeding episodes even after the divorce. They maintained their social relationship and managed their parenting responsibilities. Their real estate agency was later dissolved and rebranded as “Tarek and Associates.”
Following the divorce, Tarek decided to move from another property that he bought after they split up with his ex-wife. He is now with Heather Young, a model and real estate agent from Los Angeles who works for the Oppenheim Group.
