Born on December 15, 1959, in Wijdenes, Netherlands, Tony Beets moved with his parents to Burgewerd, when he was just 7 years old. He never spoke much about his family but it has been known that Tony did not have an easy childhood. Because of the absence of his father, he had to take up the responsibilities of the family.

Tony and Minnie (his wife) were very young when they met each other for the first time. When Tony lived with his parents in Burgwerd, Minnie was his neighbor. The two fell in love with each other and started dating each other in 1978. Just 18 months after dating Minnie, Tony expressed his wish to shift to Canada.
