NBA YoungBoy or YoungBoy Never Broke Again was born on October 20, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. He was raised by his grandmother on his mother’s side. YoungBoy’s parents were not present as his father was sentenced to 55 years in prison and there’s not much information about his mother.

When he was a toddler, he broke his neck while wrestling. He was required to wear a head brace until his spine heals. The head brace had left a permanent scar on YoungBoy’s forehead.

During 9th grade, YoungBoy suddenly dropped out. He was then arrested for robbery and was sent to Tallulah, Louisiana, a Detention Center. YoungBoy Never Broke Again started his career at an early age. He would produce music when he was just 14 years old with a microphone he bought at Walmart. In 2015, YoungBoy released his first mixtape titled ‘Life Before Fame’. He then proceeded on producing more mixtapes such as Mind of a Menace, Mind of a Menace 2, and Before I Go. Then, in 2016, he released his mixtape titled 38 Baby which has garnered attention from the audience which featured Boosie Badazz, Stroke Tha Don, NBA 3three, and Kevin Gates, who are all Baton Rouge Natives.

In December 2015, YoungBoy gained popularity after he released his mixtape titled ‘Song-for-song rap beef’ featuring Scotty Cain, a fellow rapper from Baton Rouge. The songs from both rappers contained death threats. However, no violence happened, but the feuding caught the attention of many.

In January 2018, he signed a joint venture deal with Atlantic Records and proceeded to announce shortly after his debut album titled Until Death Call My Name. In the early month of 2019, YoungBoy was sentenced to house arrest for 14 months for violating his probation.
